If you’ve been waiting patiently for your chance to go inside DreamWorks Land at Universal Orlando, you’re wait is over. Well, almost.
Ahead of the land’s grand opening this summer, Universal is giving fans a peek behind the construction walls—a glimpse at how the worlds of popular DreamWorks franchises such as “Shrek,” “Trolls” and “Kung Fu Panda” will come to life.
Up until this point, Universal has mostly shared concept art and descriptions about the land’s different experiences. But on Wednesday, the resort dropped a teaser video offering a brief tour of the land.
Our tour guide, Dean Orion, creative director with Universal Creative, shows off Shrek’s cottage, where visitors will be able to meet Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. There’s also Shrek’s Swamp, a play area for “little orges” with a bonus interactive animatronic Pinocchio and a slide through Shrek’s outhouse with its own audio surprise.
DreamWorks Land will also feature the “Trolls”-themed coaster called the Trolls Trollercoaster. Visitors can hop aboard the caterbus for “an exciting adventure through the trolls forest.” For some themed treats such as the Popalicious Pink or Brozone Berry ice cream, there’s the Trolls Treats snack stand.
The last stop on the tour is Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp, another play area with interactive elements, including water cannons, “giggling baby pandas” and a large gong with a special sound effect.
“We have so much interactivity,” Orion said. “There’s the shows…there’s meet-and-greets. It really brings the DreamWorks characters to life.”
DreamWorks Land officially opens at Universal Studios Florida on June 14.
