Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom is going back to the basics.

The Disney World icon will be repainted with a new look that includes its original colors.

During a panel titled “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles” held at company’s recent Destination D23 event, Imagineers shared the plans for the castle’s makeover.

“We are bringing back a classic color scheme to the castle,” Walt Disney Imagineer Wyatt Winter said. “The grays, the creams, the rich blues with some touches of gold that really are at the heart of this castle.”

Disney also shared concept art of the castle’s upcoming look. A timeline for the repainting has not yet been announced.

Cinderella Castle currently features a color scheme of pink, gold and dark blue. The change was made in 2020 to celebrate Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

During the panel, Imagineers also referenced Cinderella Castle’s other looks over the years, including the birthday cake overlay for Magic Kingdom’s 25th anniversary and the toilet paper makeover to mark the opening of Stitch’s Great Escape.

Imagineers will share more details about Disney’s various castles in the next episode of “We Call It Imagineering” on YouTube on Sept. 8.
